Our children are
growing up in a “media age” in which mass communications are both widely
available and highly influential. This is at once a benefit and a problem.
Students' interest in mass media and modern technologies is well known. But what are the effects of the media? How do we select the information? What are the effects of exposure to violent information? These are some questions to which we will look for an answer through this project, especially as elements of media education are poorly represented in our curricular and extra-curricular activities. It is therefore necessary for them to know what are the influences they receive, to evaluate them critically, to be capable of responsible choices towards personal development and positive affirmation.
This is the main reason why two primary schools from different parts of Europe, Croatia and Romania, decided to work together in a Comenius bilateral school partnership which has been funded with the support of the European Commission.
During the next two years, we would like to prove that the media could educate and entertain, inform and inspire.
Through several workshops and meetings our students and their teachers will deal with advantages and disadvantages of advertising, security and privacy on the Internet, media violence, traditional and modern media, video making, working with ICT and Web 2.0 tools, etc.
